Did you know that in the time it takes you to read this 2 girls will be trafficked across international borders?
It's a confronting statistic with an estimated 27 million people held in slavery around the world. 1.4 million of them are sex slaves. Even though these numbers are overwhelming, it is all about the one. Someone's daughter, who can be rescued and rehabilitated thorough the work of A21 campaign.
On Saturday the 1st August at the first Be Her Freedom Sunshine Coast High Tea we saw over 100 women support this cause, to do what they could to abolish human trafficking in their lifetime. Guests were entertained by an acrobatics display, a local magic act and a live acoustic set at the event organised by Katie Thompson and a team of volunteers.
The afternoon saw nearly $15,000 raised for this worthy cause through ticket sales and a silent auction.
Thanks to the generosity of local Sunshine Coast businesses like Lovebird Weddings and Mondo Flowers it truly was a breath taking back drop at the Yandina Station for the afternoon of champagne and delicious food.
Be Her Freedom Sunshine Coast will hold an annual event to raise awareness and funds for A21 campaign following the success of this event.
